What is the Blue Whales and Blue Skies Program?

Blue Whales Blue Skies (BWBS) is a collaborative initiative working to protect endangered whales, reduce emissions, and improve air quality along critical shipping routes. The program incentivizes shipping lines to voluntarily reduce vessel speeds in designated areas along California’s Coast that are critical routes for both shipping and migrating endagered whales.

The Benefits of BWBS

Environmental Protection

Incentivizes practices that allow for afer migration paths for marine life

Corporate Responsibility

Aligning with carriers who prioritize more sustainable shipping practices.

Reduced Emissions

Improved air quality for coastal communities.
